ADOPTING A SOLDIER FOR 2011

I just read a wonderful blog written by a fellow active rainer, Rhonda Abbot of Wadsworth, OH, about adopting a soldier for 2011.  adopt a soldier I thought? So what did I do, went straight on google and looked it up.

I wanted to pass this on and share that the AAUSS (adopt a US soldier) has many ways you can help.  It is a completely not-for profit- organization founded by Ann Johnson, after her son was deployed to Iraq and is now staffed entirely by volunteers.

I would encourage each of you to check it out and see if there is someway you can

help in supporting our troops.

Awww...thanks!  :)

I hope you enjoy your venture as an adoptive "parent"...or sibling, as the case may be!  They really, really do appreciate it, and it is so fun to find little treats, gadgets and fun stuff to send them.  Dollar stores will be your best friend, and search out some websites that offer free magazines (be careful of content though - some areas of the world frown upon questionable content and scant clothing, so the military packages hav eto be void of that kind of stuff).  Use a flat-rate shipping box and jam it FULL of great stuff - you can rest assured it will ALL be put to good use and enjoyed!
