Mark Madoff, a father's loss due to his own demise and selfish greed.

Mark Madoff,  a father's loss due to his own demise and selfish greed.  I'm glad I am not a product of Bernie Madoffs ponzi scheme. However, I don't know if his son Mark (who hung himself last night with his 2 yo son sleeping in the home) or Andrew his other son were involved in his debacle or not.

It's a shame if neither new, More shame is that if they in fact really were not involved.  Mark hung himself last night with a dog chain while his son slept in his condo.  Marks wife was here in Orlando with their 4 yo on a vacation while Mark was home with their 2 yo. [Not sure I understand that].

So 2 years after Bernie get's caught with the hugest ponzi scheme ever, gets 150 years in prison, his sons, whether they knew what he was doing or not...have to face more consequences after he is sentenced.  I guess if I was Mark...I might consider [I said CONSIDER], the same.  The sad issue is according to FOX news today that this situation will continue for years and will eventually be the problem for the 2 and 4 year old children.

IMHO...that just shouldn't be.  Those children, lost their father due to the irresponsible acts of their Grandfather. They have nothing to do with this mess.

How do you feel?  Should 2 and 4 yr. old children have to bear the responsibilities and court actions of their Grandfather?

IMHO, I think not...what do you think?

Karen - I agree. These young children had nothing to do with this and should not shoulder any responsibility for this.

Devona,

When I heard this on FOX news that this can become an issue for those children, I almost got sick.  And they are talking about the people involved w/ Bernie receiving triple payments...however that works...and that this could last for years and years.  Why would these children be liable??? Come on lawyers on here...tell me!

Did he hang himself, or was he murdered because he knew too much?

When you are talking tens of Billions of Dollars, there had to be more people involved than just Bernie Madoff.

Whatever happened, it's a sad story.   May God have mercy on the grandchildren.

Fred,

That is a good question, however, apparently he wrote to his wife last night and told her to have someone check on the 2 yo. son that was at home with him while his wife was in FL w/the 4 yo...

I know that I have 3 children and would never have left them at home alone with their father in a situation like this.  I would have had body guards and a nanny with that 2 yo.

As to your question, "Was he murdered because he knew too much?"  If Bernie was smart, he wouldn't have involved his children.  Mafia...they might...don't know.  However, if they really don't know and they were being held responsible for what their father did...I might hang myself too.

As for Mark and Andrews children (if Andrew has any), I don't think that it is fair for those babies to have to be responsible for something that happened before they were born or shortly thereafter. Otherwise, they will end up as pathetic as their Grandfather... Who could ever endure the stress of what their Grandfather did before they were a thought?  Makes no sense.

Karen - This is very sad result for the children. It sound very fishy. Probably, Madoff's victims are celebrating.

Karen - It is a shame that children that had nothing to do with this should be stained by the events of others. No matter what side you are on with Bernie Madoff it is hard to see how anyone could celebrate Mark's demise by his own hand.

More opinions than you want to hear about.

The grandchildren of Bernie should not have to suffer from his crimes.  However, like the rest of the Madoff family, they should not expect to keep the millions that came from Bernie's swindling.  I doubt if the extent of their suffering will go beyond the economic pain of not growing up multi-millionaires.  Even that will probably not happen, as Mark was undoubtedly heavily insured, and the proceeds of his insurance will be shielded from any court action.

John,

While I know nothing.  I think it is strange that his wife was in FL with the 4 yo and left the 2 yo with her unstable husband...or did he know someone was after him and let her know ahead of time to check on the child?  Who will ever know...I feel bad for his children, without probably a loving father who became a victim of his.

Bill,

Well understood.

Mike,

This who nightmare and the thoughts that this will continue to his grandchildren....makes me sick. I'm not a lawyer, so I don't know what will happen in the future...However, not having their father makes me sad...I lost my father who was in great health to an Astrocystoma like Ted Kennedy...my father lived 1.6 months after his diagnosis...I'm still sad and I had him 53 yrs... These children were 2 and 4....it's as sad as when FDR was shot and killed...It's just wrong that they have to deal in life with the ramifications of their Grandfather, JMHO.
