The City Market in historic Charleston, SC is a destination that one must see when visiting the Holy City.

History has it that the land was donated around 1788, by the Pickney family, with the stipulation that it be used to serve the public as a meat market.  The current structure was built around 1841.  Notice the motif of sheep and bulls heads, which indicate the presence of a meat market.

Today, the City Market has undergone renovations and hosts an array of local vendors, selling all types of merchandise.

Hi Joye - Nice to see an old building taken care of and repurposed for today's economy. This is one of my favorite architectural styles.

Hi John, this is one of the Charleston's centerpieces of the historic district.  Thanks.
