Ways To Be A Santa For Needy Animals In The Hendersonville NC Area: Mr. Willie, one of my two canine good friends, would like to help some of the less fortunate dogs and cats in our area. Sunday our local paper had this great article by Jessica Goodman on area rescue groups offering numerous ways to help pets down on their luck. This is an extensive article on different ways we can help. If this might be of interest to you please read it.
I'm an animal lover and I really like an idea the Blue Ridge Humane Society is offering to help befriend a helpless animal waiting for a forever home when you aren't in a position to take them into your own home. It's a program called the AARC Angel Program and with a donation of $60 you can support an animal for six months or double the amount and support this animal for a year. If you take part in this program you will receive a photo of the animal you are helping at the shelter or even get more involved and go to the shelter and meet that animal and spend time with it.
Mr. Willie, Ms. Winnie and I intend to support one of their kind for a year and when I do I'll meet him or her and hopefully an adoptive family before the year is up. The plight of the animals, like so many other things, is so sad.
The article goes on to mention other ways that you can help support these less fortunate animals by shopping at the thrift store or donating dog and cat food. Another group is selling calendars with photos and stories about rescued pets who have found loving homes. The proceeds from the calendar sales are donated to the Community Partnership for Pets to help fund their spay/neuter programs.
Take care and best wishes to all for a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.
