The opening of the new Pikes Peak Regional Medical Center is scheduled for October 1, 2007. This state of the art facility is located just to the west of Woodland Park on Hwy 24.

The new hospital is designed for staffing efficiency and with the capability of expansion as the need arises.

There will be 15 medical/surgical beds, in private rooms.

The surgery sections will provide two operating rooms, two minor procedure rooms and six pre/post-operative recovery beds.

The emergency department will have separate entrances for ambulatory and ambulance patients and includes six treatment spaces. The ambulance entrance will be protected from the weather by a canopy. A helipad will be located adjacent to the hospital.

The radiology diagnostics department will include radiography/fluoroscopy, mammography, ultrasound, echocardiography, helical CT scanning and MRI.

The laboratory will provide full clinical laboratory services.

The cardio/pulmonary department will include electrocardiography, Holter monitoring, pulmonary function, blood gas analysis, cardiac rehab conditioning, and treadmill.

Other departments will include a comprehensive women's center, infusion center, pharmacy and dietary. Physical and occupational therapy services will be tied into a wellness and fitness center available to the public, stressing preventive medicine, exercise, healthy lifestyles and health education.

Support services include space for administration, medical records, admitting, chapel, gift shop, central supply, dietary, maintenance, housekeeping and volunteer programs.

Connie and I are excited about this new facility's ability to meet the medical needs of Teller County and Woodland Park and want to welcome the new staff to our community.
