LANSDOWNE ON THE POTOMAC: Calendar of Upcoming Events
This bulletin is for the benefit of the residents of Lansdowne on the Potomac in Leesburg, Virginia, 20176 - and also families looking for a "child and neighbor friendly" community to plant future roots.
HS-8 Meeting: Supervisor Lori Waters has scheduled a public input session for Monday, December 20, 6:30 PM at Belmont Ridge Middle School, to solicit community feedback on the idea of placing a high school (HS-8) in Lansdowne on a portion of the National Conference Center (NCC) site.
School staff, or their consultants, will present information available thus far based on recently conducted studies and present layout options. After the presentation, residents will have the opportunity during the meeting to ask questions and provide comments. For those people who are unable to attend, all the documents will be made publicly available, and Supervisor Waters also welcomes comments via e-mail at email@example.com.
Facebook Page:The Lansdowne HOA now has a Facebook page, where important information will be posted regarding neighborhood events, announcements, and other important items. This page will be a supplement to both the Lansdowne Update and blast e-mails, and will be an easy neighborhood reference for residents.
Lansdowne Turkey Trot: We would like to thank all of the Lansdowne residents that participated in the 3rd Annual Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving morning. This year's race set a new event record, with almost 850 participants! As always, we greatly appreciate the Lansdowne community's support of this event.
In addition to getting some Thanksgiving morning exercise, we were able to raise $10,000 for the Loudoun Abused Women's Shelter. We could not have done it without you!
Also, for anyone that is interested, we have some extra Turkey Trot t-shirts. They will be on sale, for $5 per shirt, at the Potomac Club through Friday December 17th.
Trash and Recycling Reminder: Please remember to place your trash and recycling bins curbside only on the trash and recycle days. On non-pickup days, they should be stored out of sight. With the windy weather we experience, please secure loose items when placing in the trash and recycle bins.
Pet Guidelines: As a friendly reminder, all residents should be aware of the Lansdowne Pet Guidelines:
1. Owners are responsible for immediate removal and disposal of pet waste on Common Areas.
2. Owners are responsible for all damages, injuries, or disturbances caused by their pet.
3. Excessive noise from pets can be grounds for complaint.
4. Loudoun County Ordinance states "no dogs shall run at large. A dog running at large is a dog which is roaming or running off the property of the owner or custodian and not under leash control."
Light Up Lansdowne: The Lansdowne Safety and Security Committee is asking that all residents take the initiative to Light Up Lansdowne! As many as 30% of our homes have lamp posts that are not working or are partially lit. These lights are the responsibility of each homeowner and keeping them fully lighted is the fastest and easiest way to improve the security of our neighborhoods. If you have a non-functioning light, please take the steps listed below to ensure that it is working.
First ~ Check the light bulbs. They are standard lamps available at Home Depot or Lowes.
Second ~ Check the GFIC (ground-fault interrupter circuit) switch which may have tripped and needs to be re-set. It is possibly in your garage by the light switches with two buttons.
Third ~ The photo cell (makes the light go on at dark and off in the morning), either located on the lamppost or the outside of the house, may need replacing. These can be purchased at most hardware/home improvement stores.
If these steps do not remedy the situation, please contact an electrician for service.
