I had this day all planned out but then a tornado got in my way!

Seriously!  I had this day perfectly planned, I was going to make holiday cookies for a broker tour on Thursday, get caught up on a few blogs, update a few things on my website, exercise, follow up on some leads, you know, the everyday stuff but I have been behind the last few days. So, today was going to be my catch up day.  Wrong!

I went to the grocery store, came out, it had just rained, nothing unusual there.  Drove home, and the roads were white with what I thought was snow. Wrong again, it was hail, a lot of it!  We don't usually get that much here in Salem Oregon.

I called my husband to tell him about our exciting white roads and the auto accident around the corner.  He said there was a tornado that just blew through Aumsville Oregon (about 6 miles from our house).  Wow!  I get home, unload the groceries and turn on the news.  They are all talking about the tornado.  So I say to myself, "self, this is exciting!  We should blog about it!  Let's go get some pictures!

So I did.  They already had Main Street blocked off, so I went down a block, parked and walked.  They wouldn't allow even foot traffic on the hardest hit street, but I still got pictures of other damage.

What a mess. I bet you're glad it was 6 miles away! It only shows the power of mother nature and hope it doesn't come your way. Did you ever make the cookies for your open house?

Well you may get a new job as news hound.  Was anyone hurt (hope not) and do you get a lot of tornadoes in your area?

Nope, I decided to write blogs instead.  But, now I think I will go make cookies.  Just in case the tornado comes back our way and we loose power too!

No James, we NEVER get tornadoes.  Once and awhile we see funnel clouds about 45 minutes from here, but this is unheard of.  I have not heard of any injuries yet.

Hi Catherine, I am in West Linn and my dog was going insane howling like I never heard her before..so I thought it might have been coming our way. Glad you are ok and no damage to your home! Great pictures! Sad for all those that had the damage.

OMG, that happened near Salem? I lived near there for 22 years and we never had anything like that. I had to laugh at your line ... So I say to myself, "self, this is exciting! ... Reminded me of Bette Midlers' Sophie Tucker skits, but you may be too young to know what I'm talking about  :)

It does look like a mess.  At least you were spared.

Sorry Cynthia, I am too young to get it.

Rodney-oh yes, we live about 6 miles from the touchdown, so no problems here, just covering of hail on the ground.

OMG, Catherine, I'm so glad you and your family are fine.  I sure hope everyone in the area is too!!!  It seems really strange for a tornado in your area, and this late in the year - is it?

Was watching this on the news. Had a mortgage broker call me from south Clackamas County telling me the skies had pretty much gone dark and the winds picked up. Scary, we just don't see those kinds of things here.
