Westchester Christmas Light Displays – Tarrytown NY (Fotos on the Fly)

The Westchester Christmas Lights displays are now starting to “mature.”  Homes and businesses which were obviously works in progress last week have now bloomed into major displays.  Saturday night I came across a particularly strong Christmas display in Tarrytown NY on Route 9. It was at the front of the Reformed Church – which is in and of itself a Tarrytown monument.  Instead of the typical Creche scenes associated with churches, this particular display had a festive holiday twist to it.  I got off a couple of good shots (OK I’m trying to do better with night photography – it is a work in progress.)  But still – I think this captures the spirit of the display:

Hi Lola - It was a very heartwarming scene - the other Christimas lights I did before were over-the-top.  This was subtle but very warm, cozy and beautiful.

Hi Karen - Thank you.  I did some night photgraphy with my point and shoot.  But I realized in 2009 I needed a better camera for listings.  So I bought a digital rebel EOS and added a couple of different lenses - particularly 10-22mm wide angle. Different subject, but it revolutionized my listing photos.   No matter - I'm still learning how to do things to maximize the effect. I didn't have a the tripod with me that night so just shooting straight on the slow shutter was tough.

Hi David - thanks
