Hampton was originally called Bear Creek, the name was changed to honor General Wade Hampton of South Carolina after the Civil War.

Established in 1873, Hampton is one of tradition and history. The Train Depot is listed on the National Registry of Historic Places, and is open daily to welcome visitors.  Hampton was designated as a "Tree" city and a "Bird Sanctuary" city.  The city park offers picnic areas with pavilions, tennis courts, and sidewalks encircling the park for an early morning jog or an evening stroll.  Hampton is a growing community that works to retain its small town atmosphere.

Hampton is home to approximately 3,800 residents.  Twice a year we get over 100,000 visitors.  You guessed it... NASCAR !   Located approximately 40 miles south of Atlanta, Hampton is home to one of the most popular sports arenas in Georgia, the Atlanta Motor Speedway

Atlanta Motor Speedway draws more visitors than any other sporting event in the state.
