Interesting statistics for the State of Hawaii
Big Island Housing growth rose + 4.5%
Oahu + 1.04%
Kauai + 3.18%
Maui + 2.35%
State + 1.83%
That puts Hawaii County (Big Island) at almost triple the state average as a whole. Over the past 6 years, Big island housing has grown an astonishing 19.3 percent. On the Big Island housing is growing much faster than population, an indication that that more people are finding it an ideal setting for second and vacation homes. Population for the Big Island grew 14.7% during the same time period. Kailua Kona is the hot spot for the West side of the Island. I think the numbers would break down quite a bit different, if your were able to split the island in half, in fact they show that the unemployment rate is at 4.7%, and brother I can tell you - if you don't have a job in Kona, you don't want to work. McDonald's starting Salary is at 10.00 hr - no experience needed ! Rent a Center starts out at $13.80 an hour - and all you have know how to do - is breathe! From what I understand, Lowe's and Home Depot, bus people over from Hilo to fill positions! Thats a 100 miles each way.
So if you are looking for the Best Deals in the State of Hawaii, or for that matter, probably the best deal in any Tropical U.S. destination - the Big Island is probably it - the numbers don't lie.
