A Kodak Moment: "Like Father, Like Son"

By
Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams Realty First Atlanta

We've all heard the phrase, "Like Father, Like Son".  Growing up, I've always heard the phrase, "Oh wow, you look so much like your Dad"!  What can I say, I am his son, and we have a lot in common.  Yes, we look a lot alike, but we act a lot alike too.  I guess he passed down his genes, which includes looks, mannerisms, voice, etc.  When I was younger, I kind of wanted to be seen as just my own person, and it bothered me a little bit.  Now that I am old enough to appreciate the sacrifices that my parents made to invest in my brothers and sisters, that still continue to this day, I don't mind hearing that at all, because I am proud to be their son.

Think about how you were raised, and how it's no coincidence, that who you are today, has a lot to do with how you were raised.  Maybe you didn't have a father, or mother, but someone most likely had a significant influence on you growing up.  Most likely they passed on their family traditions, you made some of your own, and might already be passing them on to your next generation.

Last fall, we took some family pictures and a few extra individual shots of just the kids, with their parents.  Sometimes the best photos come when you least expect it, and everything from the light, the colors, facial expressions, background, etc, where everything turns out just right.  This just happens to be one of those moments, I think we all know as, a "Kodak moment"

Father and son playing guitar

I love this photograph of my brother-in-law and nephew, because I think it captures so perfectly, the bond that a father and son share.  You can see love being passed down, love being given up, and a father sharing his love of music (2 things that make the world go round in my book) with his son.  My nephew is young, but he "gets it".  This picture will be a priceless treasure for our family, and especially for my nephew, when he is digging through a shoebox and finds this Kodak moment that he and his father shared one day.

@Randy      Thank you, junior is a great kid!  Can't wait to see him play the guitar one day.  Merry Christmas to you & your family.

@Gita         Thank you!  there are a lot of amazing entries, and winning would be completely unexpected, but not too shabby if it   did!

@Roger      Thank you, sir.  I know i've found a few Kodak moments in random boxes, of old family pictures that I didn't remember existed, and they put things in perspective when looking at them.  see you in the Rain!

@Kimberly  Thanks, Kimberly!  seen a few of your posts, always a good read.

@Richard   They hit the nail on the head right?  Thank you

@Teri         Glad you liked it!

@Craig       Thanks man!  & thanks for the educational blogs you crank out, I'm already a subscriber!  I hope it made it too, I had some technology issues last night....we'll see

@Jon          Thank you for the compliment!  That really means a lot.  I used to write a lot, and enjoy it, but it's been a while, and I'm new to the AR community & blogging.  Sometimes it just flows, and other times, the wheels are a little rusty.  I am loving Active Rain, and going to be writing a lot more in 2011!  Merry Christmas

@Roger      Thanks for the compliment!

@Iran         Thanks bro, it would be crazy if we ended up with 2 photographers on the team.  Fingers x'd

John,

Great photo. I too play and am now sharing with my son. It is always a joy when he runs up to play me a new song he has learned. Nothing like playing some music with family and friends.

@Todd    I agree with you, the shot is one of my favorite pics, and the photographer is named Christi Dillon with "A Gathering of Days Photography".  She does family portraits and individual shots, and does have a great vision for her work!
