WHITE TAIL DEER IN LOVETTSVILLE VIRGINIA - FROM MY OFFICE WINDOW

I've known for some time that about a small herd of White Tail Deer live in the wooded area across the raod from my home.

Now that the leaves are down, I see them moving around quite often during the day.  Also, since it's Deer hunting season, the Deer move around quite a bit more.

White Tail Deer are overpopulated in Loudoun County with about 5.8 Deer per acre.  The Deer population throughout the commonwealth is only 2.4 Deer per acre.

THAT'S LIFE IN THE COUNTRY FOLKS.

Good thing for Bambi you gave up shooting game. Deer are also over abundant in many areas in CT. They have become a nuisance for some people.

Lenn....because of the many subdivisions built in Franklin MA, the deer are losing their woods and roaming through densely populated older areas of Franklin with 10k s.f. lots....they're lost....it's very sad to see a deer running down a heavily traveled road.

Tammie.  So do I.  So do I.

James.  They are quite over populated in my area.  The population needs to be thinned.

Barbara.  That happens so often in aras of vigorous development.

Lenn - We have so many deer running around here in Charlotte proper. The only enemy they have is cars. I still get a kick out of seeing them... just not in front of my car

Robert.  This entire area is overpopulated.

Claude.  I've hit two in the past 7 years, one three years that tore up the front of a Sequoia.

Lenn - This would be an awesome jigsaw puzzle - I had to look twice to see the deer!  Thanks for sharing!

There are a lot near my mom's house in Chappaqua, NY.  But, wow 5.8 per acre.  Can't imagine.

Lenn, I have friends that live in West Virgina right on the Oakland, Maryland border.  When we go visit the deer are all over the place especially at dusk.

We've got a doe & her 2 fawns that hang out near our house - I have to warn visitors to go slow in the driveway & watch out for them!

Lenn, I've seen more deer this year going home from work along the two lane home to my house.  I know they are nearby, but rarely seen.  It's such a treat.  Our deer population has increased over the years.

Lenn, We have mule deer (they are common in this area) in the yard and neighboring properties as well this time of year. They are comfortable and in no rush to move along...they must have some idea they are in no danger. Nice capture!

I know you don't eat meat and all, but I have to say it: Venison. We aren't the country but we have deer and wild turkey in the NY 'burbs. I even filmed deer in Yonkers last year, which blew my mind.

Lenn,

Now that is a heck of a view.  Us city folks miss out on that.  We do see hawks and coyotes, so I guess we are doing ok.  (I like deer though!)

All the best, Michelle

I love to see deer... we have them visit our front yard often but it is usually after dark so I can't get  good photo..

I was at a baby shower last weekend and looked out the kitchen window to see one running by.  It was so funny - we all ran to look.  Never get too old to be in awe of them!  They're so beautiful.  Our area is growing so much, they are running out of places to live.  Sad in a way.

Lou is right - you have a great view from your office.  Awesome picture!

Jack.  Goodness.  I could see it clearly from my office window.

Debbie.  The wooded area across from my home is about 3 acres and the herd that lives there is about 6 head.  Of course, it's possible that there could be more than one heard living there.

Lou.  YOU NOTICED MY VIEW.  I love it.

George.  THAT is feeding time.

Nancy.  I'd be willing to bet that there is a buck around too, evidenced by the presence of the two fawns.  Bucks are not as carefree as does and fawns and rarely seen unless one is still in the area for quite a while.

Kay.  Same here.  We need more hunters.

Wanda.  Thanks.  Generally, when I open the front door to get a photo, they bult.  The have uncanny sight and hearing.  I was pretty quiet because, from experience, I know they are quite difficult to "capture" by camera.

Evelyn.  They are mesmerizing, aren't they?

Michelle.  The abundance of wildlife is one of the pleasures of living in the country.

Sheila.  I see more Deer during hunting season than throughout the year.  They stay on the move.

Teresa.  The development in the closer in areas of Loudoun County have "pushed" the Deer herds farther "out" to my area.

Phil.  I would actually eat Venison.  It is lean meat that is not raised by commercial enterprises that use chemicals and hormones to "fatten" them for market.  It's not meat that I don't want to eat, it's the chemicals and hormones that are pumped into them.  Although, I would eat only a very small amount since I don't believe that meat is good for the digestive system, the kidneys (toxins) or a healthful source of protein.

I have convinced myself that humans are natural vegetarians.

I am of the opinion that it is the chemicals and hormones that the various industries use that is causing so many health problems in our society.
