Join.Me. No, Really....Join Me And Let's Learn!
I love Active Rain. And I love all that I have learned here from all the great people that find these cool tools, sites and gizmos, and then share them with the rest of us. So, let me pay it foward.
Say you are trying to help somebody with something on their computer, or how to do something on Active Rain. Well, this cool tool, Join.Me is just the cat's meow!
In fact, I recently used it on a Skype call with some of my Active Rain peers as we talked about blogging! I coordinated the call, but at anytime, I could actually give one of the callers control of MY computer and screen to illustrate a point. It was the neatest thing. So here are the quick and easy steps to use this awesome tool!
First, go to Join.Me. When the screen appears, you will have two options as you see below:

Click the "Share" arrow, and the program will load on your computer. From that point forward, you can create a shortcut on your desktop to access the program in the future.
When you start the Join.Me program, the tool bar, pictured on the right, will pop up at the very top of your screen. See the code, 118-113-530? Give that code to the person you wish to share your screen with, and they will enter it in the "join box" pictured above. Now, whomever you gave the code to will now be looking at YOUR computer screen on THEIR computer screen. I'm telling you...it's like magic!
Now, never fear, the code changes everytime you sign in, and once you end the session, it's over, and the other person does not have access to, nor can they see your screen any longer! And the icons on the tool bar:
- Telephone: You can actually have a conference call with the people you are signed in with. (NOTE: I have not used this feature. We conducted our session using Skype.
- Bubble: Opens a chat screen where you can chat with one, or all of the attendees that are signed on.
- Pause: Pauses the program
- Head and Shoulders - Shows you who is signed on with you. If you have people sign on in order, you can actually put their name in so you know who is who.
- Mouse: If this had been an active session with another person when I captured that picture, it would have been orange. Clicking on this is where you give someone else the control of your screen.
Give this FREE, yes, FREE program a try the next time you are trying to help someone learn a program, or maybe your team member or spouse needs some help, and you are not in the same place as they are...it's awesome!
So, won't you Join.Me in sharing the knowledge?
