Speechless Sunday (Almost)--Minnesota Winter Waves!

winter waves in the landscape by Teri Eckholm Realtor

Being a REALTOR® who specializes in Minnesota Lakeshore and acreage, you may have been expecting a frozen lake shot or field sculpted into drifts from the record-breaking, "snow-mageddon" Minnesota blizzard of last weekend. We clocked in with 16-20 inches across the Minneapolis/St Paul metro; in fifth place for the most snow in one storm. To be honest with you, those winter lake and open field shots can be boring as they are often nothing but white.

However the wind did sculpt the first snowfall of the season into perfectly formed snow waves across our newly installed backyard landscaping. This was such a unique sight, I just had to capture it for posterity! Only Mother Nature could provide such a backyard treat!

That is a beautiful photo Teri!  Thank you for sharing.  We're still waiting on our first snowfall...it doesn't look like we'll have a White Christmas in Texas this year at all!

Teri, mother nature does provide us with such treats, but I prefer the treats that she provides between April and September.

Very pretty!  We got hit pretty hard here in Ohio last weekend, as well.  At least we know we're guaranteed a white Christmas this year!

Teri - Those waves are almost perfectly spaced from one another.  Isn't it amazing what nature can do.

This is a great shot, Teri.  It all looks so fresh and white.  Almost tempting after our horrendous 2 days and 5 more coming of rain.

Teri that's an especially beautiful picture and i know how C O L D it can get in Minnesota! My wife attended anesthesia school in Minneapolis and these two Texans just about froze ;-) I will say that we thoroughly enjoyed the experience AND the people!

That is so cool.. It looks like someone sculpted it... I would love to visit with a snow like that.. but don't think I'd want to live where it snowed that much.. I like hot weather.. :)

Terrie--Thanks! It was unusual! :)

Don--It was a surprise out our back window...not the snow but the way it drifted.

Tammy--That's okay...if there was snow everywhere, we Minnesotan's would have no where to escape to for a winter break! Enjoy the pictures!  :)

Malcolm--I actually prefer the colors of fall but springtime is wonderful when all the winter white finally disappears!

Pat--Having grown up with the seasons, I am used to it and the kids love to ski/snowboard....but we have had more than our share this year!

Mickey&Lisa--It absolutely is amazing!

Rhonda--And the kids will have snow to play in over winter break...The kids always seem to love the snow! :)

Juli--Thanks...It is pretty cool!

Maria--Mother Nature never ceases to amaze me! :)

Steve--I heard that Colorado was snow-free so far....don't worry that jet stream will come your way soon enough. I think some of this stuff was really meant for your state...our snow totals are almost as high as all of last year and we are only in December...Long, snow-filled winter ahead!

Richard--What? You don't want to share? We have MORE than enough! lol

Myrl--They were perfectly spaced and rounded at the wave...it was remarkable!

Jane--You guys are getting drenched! Terrible weather for shopping and holiday preparations...I think we are getting some of the same storms but with our colder air we are getting feet of snow instead.

Russell--Minnesotans are a friendly bunch...and the cold is only a few months a year. Visit in the summer and the weather can be very refreshing!

Steve--I had never seen anything like it before so Mother Nature keeps surprising!

Shelia--It is not so bad if you are used to it...The driving can be a bit treacherous but with coats and gloves it is tolerable!

Jeff--Be careful what you wish for...this could head your way too! lol I like snow for Christmas but would like it to melt by New Year's Eve. This stuff is going to be here until April!

Bill--This was our first big snowfall about 6 inches. A week or so later we got the 16 inches (my parents to the south got more like 20) AND today, there is another storm on the way with another 6-10 inches. Great snowbase for skiers/snowboarders! lol

Russell--It's not too bad if we don't have a huge snow base until January but when the snow starts in November...It is a long winter! It makes the snowmobilers and snowboarders happy though! :)
