I recently went to a meeting and everyone was talking about Foursquare.......Who was a mayor of what etc. I thought, I am missing something BIG. so immediately sign up and start using the site for about 2 days..........Then the light went off in my head saying.....Kristin, everytime you check in somewhere you are telling the world where you are not........You are not home right now..........Come on Mr Burgular.....Help yourself. Yep for 2 days I became the Mayor of my house and decided I want to be a responsible owner of my home and immediately stopped using Foursquare.
Glad I live in the 4th lowest crime state. Keys in the vehicles, doors not locked and nothing new for this local area. Think about it, if someone wants in to your place and has no respect for your property, they will get in if they have to use a chainsaw for entry. Or tossing that cinderblock while you are off at church. Not hard to study a person's habits and I know there are places where fully charged tasers, pepper spray and home alarms are the norm for personal safety, protection.
I'm with you Kristin. I don't tell facebook or anyone else when I am home and when I am not. Not a good idea in this day and age.
Thankfully I don't live in an area where pepper spray, home alarms and tasers are the norm either. But I do live in 2010 in America and if you put a piece of cheese out for a mouse he is going to eat it.......In this day and age of cell phone, mobile apps and the internet, sometimes too much is just too much!
thank you very much for the informative and interesting post. I get so much out of the active rain network. |
