Move With Me In Syracuse: What Next?

Real Estate Agent with Coldwell Banker Prime Properties

Well, we found a house we wanted a few weeks ago.  We loved it not because of what it was, but because of what it could have been.  It just needed a lot of paint and carpet type stuff, but we saw thFor Sale Signe potential.  The owner was there when we went to see it and she loved my daughters.  She took my three year old by the hand and promised her the "purple room" would soon be hers.

Can you see what's coming here?  We wrote up the offer... the only thing that needed to be tended to was the sale of our own home.  The offer was above asking price, but there was the issue of our home.  They sold the house to a buyer with no home to sell.

This is where Realtor Christina and buyer Christina split and make a disconnect.  As a Realtor, I would have advised any seller client of mine to do the same thing.  As a buyer and a mom, I was crushed.  My little girl cried those bitter tears of a broken promise for the first time in her life, and there was nothing I could do about it.

So we did what many buyers would do.  We took down the "For Sale" sign in the yard and we settled back into our cozy home for the winter.  We decided to stay where we are, for now.  I understand why buyers and sellers with children are so tentative.  Showing a house with little kids is just one small step away from a nightmare.  Add my two dogs to the mix, and you've got trouble.  I decided it just wasn't worth it right now.

Plus, to quote one of my favorite childrens' books:

I love my house,

I love my nest.

In all the world,

My nest is best.

NestBut once you've made that step to envisioning yourself in another house, you can't go back.  We'd been bitten by "the bug."

2 Days in a row?  :)  I'm sorry to hear that Christina.  I always say maybe it just wasn't meant to be.  Maybe the next one will have a Castle with Cinderella painted on the wall for Princess.  :)  Keep your Chin Up and enjoy the winter in your home.

Christina.. I feel your pain.. I was there a year ago.. when I was buying our home.. found a house loved it made the offer. above asking price and more cuz the seller did not have to pay my commission. But his agent who I know and has worked with before really did a number one me.. As a Realtor. (buyers agent) I would of advised my buyer client to walk and don't look back and don't play there game. as a buyer I was crushed and hurt.. but then we found this house.. I am in now, and I love it.. and the agent who was on the other side who I knew and trusted was perfect.. and you know ....looking back on that.. other house I said to my self.. it just was not meant to be.. that is all.. and I say that to my buyers too.. one door closes then another one will open.. and that is for sure.. it did and I am so happy.. Your home will come.. that is for sure.. don't give it.. keep that sign out in front.. You know that if you get an offer you can make it contingent on you finding a home.. your dream home is out there.. you will find it..

Great Post.. have a great day

Oh Christina, that is too bad!  Even being in the industry, we still have feelings and there is just no way around that.  Hang in there...what's meant to be will be!

We are glad to see you back, although it is too bad it is with bad news.  There will be others; it is hard to be a move up buyer when you need to sell one to buy another in a market like we have now. It does give you a lot of understanding for your buyers and sellers though!

Hey Christina!  I still say..your house is bigger than mine! It'll fall in your lap when the time comes. In the meantime remember.....sally in hawaii has 500 sq/ft.

Stephanie- LOL- well, there is more to come tomorrow.  All this happened a few weeks ago, I just figured I'd start from the beginning.

Anita- Nice to see you here in the Rain!  I'll drop by and see what you are working on here too.  I think we Realtors take it really hard because we think we'll be able to finesse our own purchase and sale perfectly.

Leah- It's okay, we'll move on, right?

Mana- Thanks.  I will give her a hug.  She's still mad because of that room, but she hopes we can get a house where she can have a pink princess room now instead.

Missy- I am glad to have the experience.  It's easy to tell other people to move on, but harder to do it for myself.  I'll be more sensitive next time I have a disappointed buyer!

Joanne- You're right.  It does help me be more understanding.

Sally- But you're in HAWAII!  LOL- I will remember.

Cyndee- This is true.  It is easy to tell people what to do and to just "put all the toys away- it's temporary.," but it's very hard to do for yourself.

Paula- LOL yes, it does!  She is over it and we are moving on, thank goodness.

Thesa- I think she's already changed her mind to pink... but I'm not going to paint her room here because I hand painted murals on the walls and I just bring myself to paint over it yet.

The PURPLE ROOM is very disheartening!  But...she'll be happier when another room in another color comes along.  Maybe next time you can visit "alone" or request the seller keep a shush on things for you while you look.  THAT would be hard to explain to a child.

Also...THE BUG will last until you BUY and SELL!!  Beware...  it will be fun again but I wouldn't do it in the Winter in Syracuse!!

Thanks for the great advice. I will check back often. I really like the blog. I am new at blogging but I am beginning to learn quite a bit from reading blogs like the ones I find on Active Rain. If I can ever be of help just let me know.

                                                                 Thanks, Terry

Christina, I loved your post. I hope you find more time to post blogs. Being bitten by the bug can be hard. Kinda sorta like buying a new car or even thinking about it. Good plan to stay put it sounds like. ;-)

Too bad.  But keep chanting your nest is best...  I tell myself that everyday, because I am so tempted by all of the terrific deals out there right now.
