Fred, it helps if you post your topics to Groups. There are thousands of them here on ActiveRain, for all types of categories. Welcome to ActiveRain.
Fred,
Welcome to active rain. I've made many posts as well and sometime will not get any comments. Like anything else, its about timing. When I click on the blogs section, you get a list of newly posted blogs. Hit the refresh screen and , depending on current activity, you might see new posts and the ones you saw earlier has been pushed down.
Take a look at the topics being discussed and find something to write about. eventually, people will see your post and comment on them.
Don't give up!!!!

Hi Fred !
Welcome to Active Rain.
Here is a post I wrote for newbies that has lots of helpful hints for newcomers...I hope it helps you out and if you have any questions feel free to call on me..
Jo
Hi and Welcome. Be sure to joain the newbies groups and check out the posts there. Also, join a couple of groups that are of interest. The last thing is to post on localism as well. You may not get as many comments, but it will help your rankings on google.
Fred, If you haven't seen Jo-Anne Smith's post (see link above), it's excellent advice. Also experiment with posting at different times of day. Morning posts sometimes get more response.
Hi Gary,
Thanks for responding, you make a valid point about only so much time and the sheer volume of postings and sites on the net. If you could take a look at my site, www.nationalrealestatepages.com and let me know if my idea of one free site for all real estate related business and businesses with direct lead generation is a something of value to the real estate community, your opinion would be greatly appreciated.
And thanks for the advice on persistance, I will continue to post and read.
Hey Brian,
Thanks for taking the time to respond again. I recognize your name from my oringinal post. I did go check out Joannes newbie site and your'e right, very helpfull. Did you go to my site? I did not see you list a property, so I am wondering whether you thought it was not worth the time, or if you did not have the time to list. Your comments would greatly assist me in understanding how the other real estate agents feel about this concept. As a 7 year veteren in the industry, I just assumed that any other top producing agent would want to have a free listing site that directed the buyers and seller directly to them instead of someone else, but I am in the middle of the trees so to speak.
Thanks for the warm welcome Joan!
I feel like the new kid at school. When I posted my info and very few people responded, I felt a bit put out. I am great at building rapport with my clients and associates face to face, but on-line, social networking seems to be a whole different deal. As with the others, I really am interested in your thoughts about my site. I left the industry as a top producing agent in 2005 to start this Internet company, but still hold my license and am still with RE/MAX. I really want to help my fellow agents around the nation to benefit from this business model. Please let me know you thoughts on how I can make it better. Thanks for your comments on groups. After responding to all the posts, I am on my way to groups. When time permits, would love to talk page rank and the importance of rank in the current algorithms for generic placement on both Yahoo and Google.
Hi Sharon,
Thank you too for the warm welcome and comforting assurances that participation will not be futile. Getting advice from so many people from around the country is great. Everyone can benefit from this free exchange of relevant information. I will keep up the cause. Thanks again.
Good Morning Joanne,
Great article, thanks for taking the time to write it. It was truly helpful in learning the ropes here, although, I am sure there are hundreds of others that I will eventually learn. Thanks for taking a newbie under your wings. I have been in sales for 25 years and in the Real Estate business now for over 7 years and this reminds me of the my first day in real estate. So much to learn, and so little time. The Internet media business is so vast and so segmented, it's easy to get lost in the noise.
Thanks Leon and Richard as well, all great info. Would love your thoughts on my site as well if you get a chance. The more industry input, the better it will be for all.
