I am re-blogging this beautiful post written and photographed by Roy Kelley, of Montgomery County, Maryland.

I am a flower lover and I know so many others who share the passion for flowers. Roy Kelley of Montgomery County, Maryland, not only knows a lot about flowers, he knows a lot about Maryland and great historical places to visit, i.e., Williamsburg, VA.

So as winter begins, think about flowers and enjoy this man's great passion for life in so many wonderful places that America has to offer. Aren't his photos absolutely breathtaking!!!

Think about flowers as winter begins

It is cold day in Maryland, with snow on the ground, with more snow predicted, on this first day of winter. It is a good time to brighten the afternoon with thoughts of flowers.

One of our favorite places to visit for flower photos is Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania.  During the holiday season, Longwood Gardens is a very special place.

I used a Canon PowerShot G11 camera for these pictures.

Hi Ladies, flowers really our best friends, aren't they! Christine, I absolutely LOVE Naples, FL. It's such a warm and friendly place to live. I've never been to Naples in winter but I think that's great information to know that where you live, you can plant holiday flowers right in the ground! I'll bet they last a lot longer and you get more out of them! That's wonderful!

Mari, your words sound so poetic! I love to plant flowers because it makes me feel like a Co-Creator and I get so much enjoyment from doing so.

Roy does an excellent job sharing his professional photos that continues to give enjoyment to all! And you dear lady Mari, you have a magic thumb because you know a lot about growing herbs right in your home in East, Texas! I think that's pretty spectacular! I'll bet your house always looks and smells wonderful!

I love Roy because he leaves lots of beautiful pictures in his comments. Usually they are flowers, but I love his Christmas ornament that he’s using right now.
