The .mobi Google site is live!

By
Services for Real Estate Pros with The Virtual Link

Scenario: A businessman is offered a new position out of state.  Excited at his new future, and now the need to find housing, he picks up his Blackberry and searches for a real estate agent.  Will he find you?

If you have not snatched up your .mobi domain name, now is the time to do so.  The .mobi Google site is live and Blackberry/PDA users are using the .mobi Google site to search for everything from new homes to restaurants.

If you want the "edge" over the competition, now is your chance to jump in and buy domains such as "DallasRealEstate.mobi" or domain names with your city in it.

Mobile web sites are NOT to be ignored - if you're not utilizing a .mobi web site - chances are that businessman who's making a move, will be using your competition instead of you.

I've been very curious about this and considering adding .mobi to my bag of tricks.  Do you know if .mobi sites require special design and coding, or can existing .com sites be easily adapted to .mobi?

David - I don't know why you haven't heard of mobi before, but Google it and you'll find a wealth of knowledge regarding .mobi.

.mobi is a is a top-level domain approved by ICANN.  .mobi is intended strictly for mobile devices on the Mobile Web.

Did you know that there are more mobile devices than televisions and PCs combined? (http://www.chamberbyphone.com/5.html

Most mobile devices have full internet capabilities and more professionals are likely to use a Blackberry (mobile device) rather than run and try and find a computer to use.

Mary - no, you can not take a .com file and create the .mobi site.  There are certain specs you must stay within - at the same time, you wouldn't necessarily create a full-blown .mobi site - back to basics, your contact info, area of specialization, citys/areas that you serve, etc.

So yes, you need a special design, but not necessarily special coding.  I'd be happy to assist you when you're ready to develop your mobi site!
