My son has been wrestling for his entire high school career and I've had a real Love/Hate Relationship with Wrestling!
What I Hate About Wrestling in My Love/Hate Relationship with Wrestling
1.) Watching my son drop weight over the years! I've been in shouting matches with my husband over it!
2.) The many staph (including MRSA), impetigo and other various skin infections from this sport! YUCK - YUCK - YUCK!!!
3.) Watching my son during the matches - I literally shake from head to toe when he hits that mat!
What I Love About Wrestling in My Love/Hate Relationship with Wrestling
Through the years of my son wrestling, I have come to really respect this sport!
1.) The discipline my son has learned and executed.
2.) The confidence it has given to my son - especially in the early years when he was really small.
3.) Watching him encourage his team mates and work together to grow.
4.) The work ethic this sport is teaching him.
Another thing I Love About Wrestling in my Love/Hate Relationship with Wrestling is the lasting network. My husband was a wrestler and he is constantly running into old wrestling buddies, when they hear that our son is wrestling they all offer to help. My son has been blessed to have past State and National champions guide him and a few have done clinics for the teams in the area.
My son is also very social and he has made a lot of friends from other teams all throughout the area - that is a really cool thing to see. I talk to him all the time about the importance of his connections he is making through his wrestling, how his wrestling connections will last throughout his lifetime and they will come into play during his work life. That's a real plus in My Love/Hate Relationship with Wrestling
He's been working really hard including during the off season and it is paying off for him - 2 weeks ago he took 4th place in a tournament and this past weekend he took 2nd place.
Here he is accepting the 2nd place plaque
Michael is 2nd from right to left in the blue and yellow hoodie
My Love/Hate Relationship with Wrestling continues! I am thankful that there is more to love about wrestling in My Love/Hate Relationship with Wrestling and I truly believe my son will look upon these years with fond memories when he is grown.
