In some ways many of us are finding that we can't do the things for others that we could a few years ago and it has a tendency to weigh on us.
The bad news is that it "is what it is" and this year we may feel we came up short. The good news is that even by having these feelings it means that you have a heart the wants to give... and that's REALLY good news.
We will set our sights on next year if we feel we want to do more of the material giving....
But for now let's "Do what we CAN do"....
Let's remember that for some people even a bit of spare change, an extra small toy in the "Toys for Tots" bin, small food donation or clean, used coats and blankets to the local charity can make a big difference in their day and maybe their Christmas.
If we don't have any of those things, then there is something that we surely have to give and that's kind words, smiles and patience.
YES, Kind words and smiles for all those that we interact with for the next few days will make others feel good and I'm sure it will do the same for us. In addition let's remember to exercise patience. We are all in a hurry, we are all a bit behind, we all have some stress and it is how we handle this that truly demonstrates who we are.
The confused person ahead of you in line, the guy that didn't let you change lanes and the overwhelmed check out clerk are not "out to get you". They are the people that are giving us the opportunity to be our "better self".
Don't miss the opportunity to Do what we CAN do... :-) Happy Hollidays
