Winners Do Quit and Quitters Can Win
There are very few books I say that are a "MUST" TO READ, but this is one! Seth Godin makes you think!
Sam - you make some great points here in this article!
Now is the time to re-evulate your business for 2011, actually you should have had it done already!
This is the time of year when many of us in the real estate profession look back on our year and evaluate our successes and our failures. The real estate industry has experienced monumental changes during the past 5 years ranging from the financial meltdown, bail outs, home buyer tax credits, short sales, massive foreclosures, appraisal challenges, tighter lending guidelines and I could go on and on. I believe it is safe to say that the real estate industry has gone through one of the most unprecedented shifts in history and many agents and brokerages are feeling the pressure.
Vince Lombardi coined the phrase "Winners never quit and quitters never win". After I read Seth Godin's book "The Dip" I now believe that this popular quote by Lombardi isn't good advice when it comes to our business. The reality is that winners quit every day...they just evaluate their businesses closely and they quit doing certain things and they successfully refocus their energy and resources into the right things that will generate successful results.
Albert Einstein once said that the definition of insanity was doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. I challenge you to find a couple of hours of free time between Christmas and New Years to read Seth Godin's book "The Dip". I believe this book will not only inspire you but I believe it will cause you to see the challenging economy and the current housing market as nothing more than a bump in the road that you can successfully navigate through.
Wishing you tremendous success in 2011!
