Any Ideas on My Website

By
Real Estate Agent with Kim Wilbourn Realty
I am still having problems with figuring out what to do with my website. I am not very computer savvy at all, and I paid someone to fix me a website. It is not getting me anywhere. I have talked with several different companies, and everyone tells me something different. I just need to know do I need to pay for my keywords or does it just take awhile for the web to crawl my site. I am tired of giving money out, and it not getting me what I want. Any helpful ideas would be greatly appreciated

I don't know anything about how to get the spiders to crawl your site (I don't even know what that means!)  I know that the companies will try to get your money.  There is a good blog here about optimizing your website (you'll have to search cause I can't remember where I saw it)  But what are you doing in your marketing to drive people to your site?  Do you feature it prominently on all your mailings, postcards, flyers etc?  Is is relevant locally?  By that I mean do you target a specific area and feature specific information on that area?  Do you go to local groups and offer them space to put information on your site?  Example your kids soccer team can have a page for the team schedule, who's turn it is to bring treats etc..... People have to have a good reason to choose your site over all the others and if you make it a LOCAL feature with content that people actually will use and are interested in then there is a better chance of them actually thinking of you when it's time for buying/selling.

Hi Kim. I understand where you are coming from. Until I started reading SEO posts here in the Rain I had no idea how to get my site on page one of any search engine. Since then I have managed to plant myself firmly on page 1 of all SE for the most important keywords. By being on page 1 I get several hits each day which in turn has led to business.

Take a look at Karen George's posts concerning SEO. She has great advice and explains it in the simplelest terms for us laymen (& women).  If you would like I can provide some great tips, not as good as Karens, that will also help. Just email me and I'll send them along.

I do put it on everything I hand out. I am trying to work on a blog to be put on my website also, but I am having trouble figuring out what all to do with it also. The people that done my website said they would tell me what to do but then there is fees for that, and I am about paid out. In the beginning they were going to do all this for me, but now the story has changed. Go Figure!
