I'm not sure if this is "pay it forward", "pay it back" or simply "Merry Christmas". For years a really nice elderly neighbor makes sure to toss a biscuit to Mr. Dog whenever he sees us walking around the neighborhood. I've always thought of giving him a little gift at Christmas time for being so nice to my big furry four legged buddy when ever he sees us, but I didn't want him to feel obligated to exchange gifts. So after many years of procrastination I realized that so many times I've put off doing something nice for someone else has unfortunately ended up being too late. With that thought in mind I picked up a basket of Christmas Cookies for him. Christmas eve day Mr. Dog and I stopped by the old gentleman's house, knocked on the door and I gave him the basket saying it was from Mr. Dog and I thanked him for being such a kind neighbor. He smiled warmly, thanked me and wished me a Merry Christmas and off Mr. Dog and I went for our afternoon walk. Christmas morning I got up and as always my first daily duty is to take Mr. Dog out for his walk. There on the doorstep was a big dog biscuit. Mr. Dog thinks it must have been from Santa Claus.

John- for the 3 or 4 years I lived in the home previous to this one and elderly neighbor used to knit little catnip mice and put milkbones on the table outside my door for my animals. After the first year I used to leave things out side of her door signed with a card from my animals. The last year was a mini live tree we had decorated. She LOVED it as she hadn't been able to put up decorations anymore as it ws just too much for her.
