One of my sellers asked if I would like a reference letter on my real estate services. They read several in my pre-appointment book before I listed their home and wanted to include one from them. Of course I would welcome one! We closed on their home last May and with son's graduation, purchasing a new home and starting a new job in another city I never received a letter.
My sellers usually move away; therefore they are not as easy to reach if a new client would like to speak with them concerning their experience with working with me. I always tell my sellers when the transaction is over I'd really appreciate if they'd take a minute and write something I could pass on to future clients.
I opened a Christmas card and my sellers had not forgotten! I got the following note which I'm definitely grateful for and will pass on to future seller clients:
Dear Dorie and Gene,
We just wanted to wish you both Happy Holidays and say thank you, belatedly, for all your help with the sale of our house. We still can't believe how smoothly it all went and how quickly it sold, especially given the current economy. How fortunate we were to have had you guiding us through the whole process. Your advice, expertise, excellent marketing strategies and attention to detail really made the difference, resulting in a quick sale at a good price and less stress for us. You are so incredibly good at what you do and we will always be grateful.
Our realtor here, although she has been a realtor for many years, was not nearly as capable. While the purchase transaction was completed okay we never felt the kind of confidence in her that we did in you.
With Best Wishes for a Happy Holiday Season!
Russ, Debbie, Steph and Jeff
Reference letters are a good measure of the "experience" your clients enjoyed while working with you. A testimonial like this might just tip the scales in your favor when clients can read in a previous consumers own words about your expertise as a listing agent.
As a potential seller always ask the agents you are interviewing if they have reference letters or a list of past clients to contact in order to assure you are choosing the right agent in the sale of your home.
