How Do You Compete With Goliath?

By
Real Estate Agent with Coldwell Banker Dynasty

In the Bible, David was a small kid while Goliath was a very big and powerful warrior. It was hard for anybody to think that David would have a chance against Goliath especially bringing a slingshot to a sword fight.

David versus Goliath

In real estate or business, we are usually the Davids in the world where there are always someone that have more money, more power, or more established than us. Even if we are the top agent of a local city, there could be an up and coming agent or another top agent that could dethrone us.

How did Bill Gates and his small Microsoft company compete against IBM in the beginning? Or Jeff Bezos of Amazon.com use his ecommerce website to outsold books then even the big Brick and Mortar shops of Crowns Bookstore and Barnes and Nobles? Could technology even the playing field? How about an MBA or some savvy business skills?

The ones that figure it out would definately make a lot of money in their field. The questions are, would you be one of them and what are you doing to compete against the giants in your industry?

Hmmm...lots of questions. Are there any answers?

I actually have this dilemma in my area, where the vast majority of my colleagues do not blog at all, but most seem to be doing well enough...but then again, most of them have been in this business for years, compared to me...

I believe the story of David and Goliath illusttates the fat that with God anything is possible and it was only because of God's power that David could defeat Goliath.

Song - I agree with you. I have been in Real Estate for 5 years now but regularly compete with agents in the business for 20 or more years! I think for me, knowledge of technology puts me ahead of many of these long term agents. They either don't know or care how to show their listings better with technology. Technology is my rock and sling against Goliath!

William: I believe if we have the answer to all these questions, we would be successful. For everyone, the answer could be different.

Patti: Having a strong mindset and faith is important to be successful.

Peter: Once the agents are successful and established for a while, it is very hard for new agents to compete against them.
