Montgomery County now offers a web site that documents where snow plows are active during snow storms. The web site can be found here.
Features of the web site:
· Link to check for current snow plow operations. The map breaks down the different places that have been plowed, where the snow plows are at the moment, in progress roads, etc. There is also the option to plug in your address to see where your home is located on the map and if your area has been plowed.
· Frequently asked questions
· Description of emergency routes
· An explanation about when the plowing begins
· A list of areas that are not plowed by the county and who to contact to see when they will be plowed
· Explains that if less than 3 inches of snow falls that MoCo only salts the roads
· An explanation of what the goals are for plowing the county and how soon they will be plowed
· Who to contact in case of an emergency
· Who to contact if a snow plow damages a residents mailbox
· The number of people involved in the plowing process: 200 employees with 175 pieces of equipment.
Thanks to MoCo for implementing this web site! It will be helpful if we get another snowstorm like last year’s!
