Treasures to Seek out in Concord, MA

In a town such as Concord, MA, rich in history as well as it's literary heritage, it should come as no surprise to find a library that is in a class by itself.  The Concord Free Public Library has always been one of my favorite places in Concord.  It was built in the early 1870s, with Ralph Waldo Emerson giving the keynote address at it's dedication in October of 1873.  The original Gothic structure has gone through many renovations and updates over the years. This library has held a special fascination for me since I was a child.  The warm, rich woods of the interior, the statues of local writers, the gallery upstairs, which showcases local artists as well as school children's work are all reasons I love to visit this library. During the summertime there are concerts on the front lawn of the library.  Whether you live in Concord or are visiting, take some time to enjoy the peace and quiet and history of the Concord Free Public Library.
