The World Health Organization and the Environmental Protection Agency have released a 'call to action' for US Homeowners.

The EPA estimates that as many a 8 million homes in the US have elevated levels of Radon Gas, and predict that 15 thousand to 22 thousand deaths will occur in 2011 from past exposure to the gas - more than all other in-house hazards combined. Radon gas is odorless, and invisible, and can only be detected by testing.

The US Surgeon General recommends that all homes in the US be tested, as radon problems have been found in every county in the US.

EPA has designated January 2011 as National Radon Action Month and asks you to visit: www.RadonMonth.WordPress.com

If you are concerned, I can recommend a Radon testing company and a Radon abatement company

Why do we ignore this present danger? Radon is prevalent througout the US and Canada!  It should be a required test for home inspections before the house closes...... buyers need to know what they are getting....in the way of radon.  Even Gen. Contractors should be aware of the amount of radon that they will expose workers to during new home excavation and construction on lots that are decomposed granite. Anyone needing testing in No. CA or No. NV contact: Jeff Miner.

Maryland requires all new residential construction to have passive radon abatement installed when built.

If testing finds high levels, than only fan needs to be installed
