Many call the snow that fell in Huntsville Al Christmas day a Christmas miracle...I say we got lucky, lol.
For the many that call Huntsville home that were dreaming of a white Christmas, the odds were certainly not in their favor! This Huntsville snow will go down in the record books as a “White Christmas”. 1989 is the only year that Huntsvillian's have experienced a snowfall worthy of measuring on Christmas, according to the Nashville Weather Service. It has only snowed 4 times in the past 10 years, but truly only 2 snowfalls brought bragging rights. This was one of them!
Gus has decided he would love to move up North. He LOVES the snow!
Huntsville had 2-4 inches of snow, and it created havoc all over the city. Roads were closed and even the Churches canceled their services on Sunday morning...I’m not talking a few canceled, I’m saying MANY. Wrecks were too numerous to count. Think you needed a loaf of bread or a gallon of milk? You were out of luck! People swarmed the stores when snow was mentioned. We were in Ohio for Christmas and missed the mass chaos!
One of the entries for our Snow photo contest!
I happen to get a huge kick out of the panic that ensues. I was raised in the Mid-West, where snow was plentiful. I stay off the streets because of all the crazy southerners that don’t know how to drive in the snow. We don’t have the equipment to keep our roads clean and safe, and it becomes a dangerous playground for many.
I'm thinking this is a snowGIRL...another entry for our @Homes Contest!
I did have a great time taking pictures of the 100’s of snowmen around Huntsville. We even had a contest on our @Homes Realty Group Facebook Fan page for the best snow pictures.
Mr. Personality!
I’m thankful that Huntsville got to experience a rare occurrence of a White Christmas. It really brought joy to so many!
