Out With the Old: De-clutter For Better Home Showing

The start of a new year inspires a renewal of goals and goal-reaching methods. At this time of year people are in a “cleaning house” mindset. As a home seller at Smith Mountain Lake, or elsewhere, you can take advantage of this mindset to make changes that encourage property sale.

When potential buyers walk through a home, they need room for envisioning the home as their own. While it’s helpful to stage a home so that it looks livable and welcoming, too much homey paraphernalia laying around is distracting and can be a turn-off. De-cluttering the home you’re selling gives it a fresh, tidy appearance without having to bring in new decor or furniture. This is especially helpful if you’ve had your house on the market for a while and expect any repeat viewers.

Use the inspiration of the new year to go out with the old, space-filling clutter. If you aren’t able to use the extra items elsewhere, there’s always a local charity that most likely could. If you’re uncertain about how to get your property in showing shape, we’d love to help!

Deborah - The new year is a great time to rid ourselves of excess "stuff."  And for those who are trying to sell their homes it's imperative.  De-cluttering also provides us with an opportunity to help others by donating unused items.
