Ringing in the Happy New Year with a Fantastic Meal
I was blessed with Family this Christmas - my three sons came from Alaska, Wisconsin, and Washington to share the holidays with their little sister, mom, and my husband Rocco...and Great-Grandma Ski!
It was a houseful at times! One brought his girlfriend, and another his wife and our grandchild, so it was a fun, fun time with lots of visiting and laughter.
On New Year's Eve, my oldest son Doug had gone off to Phoenix with his girlfriend and their night of plans. We planned on ushering in 2011 with a night of games and snacks.
But first, my husband and I shared our last meal of 2010.
We love food - good food. If we were stinking rich, we'd probably spend more money on groceries than other luxuries... :)
Living as we do on a budget, we made do with holiday sales. 8 ounce lobster tails for $4.99, and NY strip steak on sale for $3.87. You really can't beat that.
We were a duo in the kitchen - I made leafy green salad and garlic butter, and set the table; my husband fired up the grill.
Here's a couple of photos of our New Year's Eve Handiwork:
And my daughter had her own plans in place as well. A "picnic" under the pool table with cheese tortellini and Alfredo sauce. To each his own!
Happy New Year Active Rain - I've loved all the Thanksgiving, Christmas, Hanukkah, and New Years posts I've read on here. It's like bringing the whole USA together right at my AR fingertips.
Looking forward to our 2011 journey together.
