Over this past hectic week of Holidays and a Blizzard I've pondered what event will pop up as a Pay It Forward moment to write about. There was gift giving, phone calls, shoveling snow all tossed into this past week, but what strikes me the most and leaves me with the warm and fuzzys is an encounter I had Thursday at a local Assessor's office while doing my daily due diligence for a client.
As usual I was in a hurry that day and as luck would have it there was a lady in front of me getting some detailed information at the assessor's office counter. So I looked up the zoning information and made notes regarding zoning, tax rate and what ever else I could fill my time waiting with. Since the office was about the size of a small broom closet it was easy for the lady in front of me and the assessor's assistant and I to start a pleasant light hearted chat about the holidays, blizzard and replacement windows. Aside from needing the information obtained at the counter the lady in front of me was in need of replacement windows for her home. She said she had a number of contractors give her estimates but she did not feel at all confident with any of them, especially since the estimates were very diverse, well up in the five figures and she was an older woman. Immediately, a professional friend of mine came to mind who is a rep. for a window manufacturer, also he is an architect and is extremely reliable. He sells windows to developers, architects and home owners who need specially designed windows like what this lady needs. I gave the lady my friend's phone number and wished her a Happy New Year! I felt good that I could share my knowledge with this lady, she could get a reliable estimate from my friend and he may make a sale.
