HGTV 2011 Dream Home - Located in Stowe, Vermont
Stowe, Vermont is normally buzzing with tourists this time of year, and these past few weeks have been no exception. The small, resort town has been booked for the Christmas and New Years Holidays for weeks. But now, there is a new energy - the HGTV Sweepstakes for a chance to win the 2011 Dream Home located at Spruce Peak Mountain, in little Stowe, Vermont.
In December of 2010, I had the opportunity to tour the home with the
contractor, Brendan O'Reilly of Gristmill Builders, Stowe, VT. I have seen a lot homes in my 13 year career as a Realtor® in Stowe, but must say that this home was a pleasant surprise. I loved everything about it - from it's site right above the ski resort, to the construction, to the landscaping by Ambler Design and the amazing interior decorating. The house itself is actually a great size - about 3,000 s.f. It is built in the style of a mountain lodge and has a 
bird's eye view of Mt. Mansfield. There are 3 bedrooms and 3 1/2 baths. The architect, Paul Rouselle of Stowe, designed it in the Adirondack Mountain style. One can see tree trunks and branches throughout. Also, many of the materials are sustainable and came from local native pine and hemlock. The exterior features bark siding. There is also a stone patio which features a hot tub. In my photo, it is covered by snow.
The interior was designed by Linda Woodrum of TS Hudson Interiors. It features
Ethan Allen accessories, Sherwin-Williams paint, SubZero/Wolf Appliances, Wellborn Cabinetry, Lumber Liquidators Flooring and many art and art objects by local artists including Axel Stohlberg, Jon Gregg, Peter Miller, Dorothy Martinez and James Pinginot.
I have seen many videos about this Dream Home. I am not a professional photographer and the day I visited was not ideal - foggy, but I took photos and am sharing them in a slide show below. I hope you will see why this dream home is so special:
