If you don't know who Jay Thompson is, it's possible you haven't been marketing your business online very long. Had you been, you surely would have come across the Phoenix Real Estate Guy.
Jay initially launched his real estate blog, The Phoenix Real Estate Guy, in May of 2005, predating the launch of ActiveRain. On June 25th of 2006, he posted the first "real" blog post on ActiveRain. (Two people had posted something prior to him, but one was just a link to another site and the other was a copy and paste job). It's easy to see how a guy, who had already been using a blog as a business tool, was the first one to post something of substance.
Since then, he hasn't slowed down.
Jay was recently named one of Inman News 100 Most Influential Real Estate Leaders of 2010 and was one of the few REALTORS® on the list. He has over 7900 followers on his twitter account and is the designated broker and co-owner of Thompson Realty, an independent brokerage based in (you guessed it) Phoenix, Arizona.
Come join me on Friday, January 7th, 2011 at 12pm Pacific Time as we get Jay to open up about the keys to maintaining a successful real estate blog. I'll also be drilling him a little bit about using social media and blogging to recruit agents to his business as well how he's used it to generate leads and closings for his brokerage.
He does a much better job of describing himself on the about page of his PhoenixRealEstateGuy blog.
If you've read Jay, or you know Jay, you'll know that he doesn't sugar coat much of what he says, so you can expect some very forward answers to just about any question I throw out there (Hopefully he doesn't come through the phone when I ask him what happened to his Longhorns this year). If you have any questions you'd like Jay to answer, please feel free to leave them in the comments below.
