After 7 months of decline overall construction in the US has increased slightly - 0.4%, but that number was led by a larger increase in residential construction - 0.7%. Even though November was the third straight month for construction to increase, it was the first increase in residential since the market disruption of the home buyers tax credit - or seven months.

A spokesman for High Frequency Economics feels the homebuilding industry has hit bottom and will start to increase, with a recovery still long off - non-residential, private construction fell for the second month as financing is still difficult to come by.

One bright spot - Government construction was up 8.5% as a lingering effect from the Feburary 2009 stimulus package, but that monmey will run out as 2011 progresses and the projects wind down.

The Frederick Maryland area has seen steady construction - possibly increasing, perhaps due to a more vigorous economy, and not as high a percentage of foreclosures and short sales as many areas of the country.
