 Investments by Goldman Sachs and the Russian Company Digital Sky Technologies, totaling $500 million, give Facebook an estimated valuation of $50 Billion.

2010 saw Facebook surpass Google for the most visited website on the internet.

This could well be an agressive valuation - no bubbles please!

Facebook may go public in 2011, or it could stay private,

How do other tech companies stack up?

* Apple - $302 billion - surpassed Microsoft in 2010

* Microsoft - $239 billion - it's $240 million investment in Facebook in 2007 could be worth $800 million

* Google - $193 billion. - tried to invest in Facebook - lost to Microsoft

*  Comcast - $61 billion - Cable TV - buying NBC/Universal

*  News Corp - owns MySpace - was the Facebook in it's time

*  AOL -  dropped a lot, still dropping

*  Washington Redskins (non-tech) but $1.6 billion (second in NFL to Cowboys)  for comparison.

Ah... A man that keeps up with his stocks such as myself.. Alot of people are anticipating that Facebook go public this year, I am still pretty skeptical going public, it's possible but for something to hit the market that much inflation could be as bad as a pin hitting a balloon.. We also have to remember is the facebook popularity just a trend like myspace used to be, what is going to be the next latest and great social media site that is going to make facebook just as lame as myspace, in turn decreasing the hits the site gets and ultimately decreasing the value.. I believe facebook is at to much risk than to go public.

Speculation-  some way down the road the SEC may force it to go Public.  Thats what happened to google.

What would be the rationale for the SEC?
