So many different opinions on what is a good website

What is a good website?

I look at websites all day, majority of them are real estate related. When I see a registration box right off the bat, before I get to look at houses- why would I register? What's in it for me to register (WIFM)? A website is like your store. The ultimate goal is to have people stop in and BUY something. When referring to an online store (lead capture website) you need to give the consumer a reason to drop of a business card (register). Once you figure out a successful way to maximize capture rates, then you need a reason for them to come back to your website. No one can do business with a "one-hit wonder"- registration that never comes back.

Its all about the engagement now at this point, why do they come back? Are you asking them to? How are they being followed up with now? Everything adds to the experience of the consumer. Did they get exactly what they were looking for? Same reason people use Google or Bing. They always get the helpful info they were searching for. Does your website give your viewers every thing they need, while giving you as much information as you can get?

People hate having to reister before they get any information.  They just click onto the next site that lets them look for houses...that's how they found you in the first place.  Amazing that we have not learned what about free samples.  When you give someone something for free and they like it they will buy it and then tell their friends about the great deal they got.

Agree. There needs to be a compelling reason to sign up. A free report with valuable information, for example.

Excellent post...websites have also "shifted", and need to be dynamic opportunities now.    The old static enterprise day is long gone.

I can say that I absolutely agree. I am using the AZ MLS IDX search that allows one to view 10 homes before asking them to set up a custom search. I am getting leads every day!!

Happy New Year
