I WROTE THIS AS A TESTIMONIAL TO BE INCLUDED IN A HANDBOOK TO BE GIVEN TO NEW AGENTS STARTING OUT IN REAL ESTATE. I POSTED IT AS A BLOG BECAUSE I THOUGHT IT EXEMPLIFIED TRAINING TO BE THE BEST YOU CAN BE AT WHATEVER YOU PURSUE ALWAYS PAYS OFF. KNOWLEDGE IS NEVER WASTED AS LONG AS IT IS APPLIED. NO MATTER WHAT COMPANY YOU ARE WITH OR WHAT ASPECT OF A BUSINESS YOU PURSUE, TRAINING ALWAYS KEEPS YOU OUT IN FRONT OF THE CROWD!
I came to Keller Williams for the training. As a matter of fact I was not even looking to change companies back in 2003 when I bought and read The Millionaire Real Estate Agent by Gary Keller. The book was chalked full of exactly the information and business practices I was looking for and it was all free...well almost $15.95. That book caused to me to make the decision to join KW which in turn caused my business to skyrocket to 15 million in sales that next year. Pretty good investment...huh? Three years later I became a Team Leader for our market center. I thought I had been to a lot of training as an agent, but brother that was nothing compared to Team Leader training. Two times a month in Austin Texas to learn how to run a Market Center, prepare financials, Recruit, Train, Coach and Mentor other agents. After a wonderful 2 year experience in that position I longed to get back to selling so I decided to hit the streets again as an agent. This is where I learned the real value of training. I had been a REALTOR for over 14 years by this time and had sold hundreds of homes prior to becoming a team leader. I had no idea that the training I received as a TL would set me so far above the crowd even though I hadn't sold 1 house in 2 years. I simply applied the knowledge that I had taught others which caused me to literally pick up where I left off and quickly grow my business, even in a DOWN MARKET!. I believe I am ten times the real estate agent I was. The teacher became the student and with all that knowledge and confidence I had gained, I picked my production right back up and am soaring to high levels once again. Proper training will make your business grow. It is proven over and over with highly successful agents who stay in this business. Do you want to be the 10% of agents doing 90% of the business? It's easy...Focus on training and stay consistent with it throughout your career.
