The incoming Republican majority in the House of Representatives is ruffling some feathers today with a reading on the House floor of the United States Constitution. Considering that every member of Congress takes an oath to support and defend the Constitution, I believe that it is about time that some of them read it. If this works out maybe they could start reading the legislation that they vote on.
News reports that Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia has accepted an invitation from Minnesota Congressman (woman) Michele Bachman to meet with incoming Congressmen to speak to them in general terms about the Constitution. Liberals express their concern that the Court should not inject themselves into partisan politics.
The Constitution of the United States created a government which was unique in history at its inception and continues to provide the social and cultural structure for the shining city on the hill that Ronald Reagan spoke of.
I applaud the Republican emphasis on the Constitution and support the symbolism of Justice Scalia's visit.
