I've been a licensed agent for two months now and have put off posting a blog entry, mostly because I'm new to blogging. I assumed that my blog entries would have to be real estate related and being new to the business, I really didn't have much to blog about. I realize now that I can just about blog on anything.
That being said, I'd like to talk about customer service. I was on the phone the other day with perhaps the most pleasant, knowledgeable, helpful representative I have ever spoken to. She is an employee of a utility company, I'll call her Ann. I was greeted by Ann with the most friendly, non-monotone voice. She was genuine in her offer to assist me. All to often, I come across customer service reps that sound like they hate their job and only want to assist because that is what they are paid to do. Some even act as if you are bothering them. Ann engaged me in conversation beyond the scope of my phone call; she asked about my holiday, my family, the weather, etc...which made me feel like a person, not just another voice on the other end of a call. During the course of our conversation we even discovered we had some things in common and shared similar stories. And of course, Ann helped me resolve the issue that I was having.
My interation with Ann made me realize the kind of customer service that I want to provide to my clients and customers. I've been told so many times that this business is all about relationships. I'm thankful that I got to speak to Ann the other day and hope that someday (preferrably soon!!) my clients will be able to say the same about me.
The colors of winter in Maryland. Life is good!
