STARBASE ROBINS will host a FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Regional Lego League Robotics competition on Saturday January 8, 2011 at the Museum of Aviation in Warner Robins, Georgia.
Opening ceremonies are at 9:00am in the Century of Flight Hangar with the awards ceremony at 4:00pm.
The 2010 theme is "Body Forward" with emphasis on medicine. Teamwork, design, presentation, and programming of a robot to complete a medically related task are the competition goals.
Students will compete in three rounds of competition and give two presentations about medical research to a panel of judges.
Forty total teams from throughout Georgia will compete, with 6 from the Middle Georgia area (Bonaire Middle School, two teams from the First Presbyterian Day School in Macon and 3 other neighborhood teams).
The FIRST Regional Lego Tournament is a qualifying event for the Georgia FIRST Lego League State Tournament, held at Georgia Tech on January 29, 2011.
