I've been living in Brevard County Florida now for 11 years. The first two years I traveled 25 days a month so I really didn't get to experience this area. And, yes, it's a beautiful area.
So I was just thinking...
When I got into Real Estate, I never really thought about the impact that we, Realtors, have on peoples lives. I started thinking back through the lots of customers I have had. Some I have remained good friends with and others I only talk to every once in a while. However, they all past through my life and me through theirs. It's a very unique experience that we get to share with people. We get to get into their lives in a very personal way and in most cases, they give us all their trust that we will guide them through the process without pain. Most of the time we succeed. Unfortunately there is always some pain with success and we shoulder it to protect them.
So this all brings to mind another question. Why do Realtors have such a bad reputation when I know so many of us are good, honest, hard working people? Ok, we all know the evil ones. I can think of 10 off the top of my head locally. They are evil and will do anything to make a buck. But I have to believe that most Realtors are us.
What can we do about? Well you all have the opportunity to change the perception each and every day. You have the ability, and I know so many of you do, to make a difference in people's lives. You can be a positive force in your office and in your community. Do you know how many people who work 9-5 jobs would love that opportunity but they will never get the chance. It's pretty awesome.
So let's make change. Let's show everyone. Put your customers way ahead of the dollar. This job is best done honestly and ethically. In the end, we all win!
