I had the privilege of going to "The Inn at Gristmill Square" in Warm Springs, Virginia. My husband and I wanted to go on a winter retreat and we discovered this place while searching for a "Bed and Breakfast" in the Virginia area. We were equally delighted when we found out that there was a natural warm mineral spring in the area. Ooh! Aaah! a place where you can soak in mineral waters. George Washington and Thomas Jefferson frequented there 200 years ago to soak in the warm springs.
In this picture you will see the "Waterwheel Restaurant" where you can get some good food with a good atmosphere. Don't forget to try their juicy steak, what a treat!. The grist mill which was built in 1900 and restored is the home of the "Waterwheel Restaurant".
The rooms were beautiful, decorated in antique furnishings from a period of early America. The Inn has five original 19th - century buildings.
They serve a wonderful continental breakfast, served in a picnic basket. Hot coffee, tea, jams, jellies, hot muffins and bagels with cream cheese. They all seemed to taste so good nestled by the warm fireplace. This is the place to go if you enjoy history, warm cosy settings, reading a good book or you just want to get away from all the hustle and bustle. If you get a chance to go there, I hope you enjoy your trip!
