The Pen that Remembers What You Don't

Services for Real Estate Pros with Marketing with Kate
I just discovered this awesome technology by Livescribe called a Smart Pen. Simply put it's a computer in a pen. The pen records sound while you are taking notes and then allows you to go back to the exact spot in the recording by simply tapping the pen on your notes. The implications of this for Real Estate professionals is amazing. From walk-thrus, to inspections, even presentations and first consultations with clients. Imagine if you never had to miss anything in your notes again. I want one bad.

The pens were first released in 2008 and are now in their second generation. They connect directly to your computer and come with up to 8 gigs of memory. How did I miss this very kewl thing?

How would you use this in your business?

You can write in your notebook.  Then you have a written copy in the notebook, You have a copy in your pen.  And you have a third copy in your computer when you upload your pen.  The pens are a bit thick and take some getting used to.  If you are recording audio, the battery will wear out much quicker, and you might not realize it - and the smart pen becomes a dumb pen until it is recharged.  So it is simplest to keep the audio turned off.

But if you lose pens easily, then hanging on to your $100 plus pen might be a challenge.

Alexsandra, pretty cool.  I really want to try one.

Dan, interesting.  Seems that turning off the recorder would lessen the value of the tool.  Thanks for sharing.

Kate - A realtor friend of mine has one of these pens and she loves it!  I, too, had never seen it before until I saw her using it during a meeting.  I was amazed!!!  Appears to be a VERY COOL tool!!!
