Problems with the Treo 700p

By
Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams Realty Media World

I have a Treo 700p which I really love.  It is the lifeblood of my business communications and coordination.  Over the past 2 months I have been having an issue with it that no one has been able to solve and I am hopeing that the AR community may be able to help me with.

The problem is this.  While in the middle of a call, for no apparant reason the phones shuts off and reboots itself.  It does not just hand up on the person that I am talking to but totally shuts down.  I have to pull the battery and start the phone up which we all know takes a few minutes to happen.

At first it was only ahppening once in a blue moon but lately is has started to happen up to 3 times a day.  I have not dropped or abused it in anyway and Verizon has been unable to give me a good answer.

Has anyone else had similar problems with their Treo?  If so how were you able to fix it?

I have the Treo 700P from Sprint.  I bought it new in April.  It was in the shop within two weeks and 3 times since.  Once I spent an evening on the phone with the Palm tech support.

My problem is slithtly different, if powers down on it's own - but never during conversation, alwasy when in standby mode, and you are right it is happening more and more often these days.

I took it in for the 4th time on Tuesday and while they had the phone in the back -- it happened to them.  They have ordered me a new phone - but I have to drive back to Temecula to pick it up.

I'm hoping this ends the frustration.

Now Have a Blessed Day,

I have the 700P from Sprint as well.....I have to say it was my own stupidity....I was deleting files to create more space as I get hundreds of emails per day and I forgot to purge the trash can.

Anyhow there is a MMS file that I deleted, and another that was corrupted that a friend of mine (an IT geek) had to do a hard reset to fix. Now assuming that when you sync your Treo, you make sure that the handheld and the computer always constantly update each other, even if you delete everything from your Treo, the information will be there when you sync again. Check before you do it, or you will be deleting a lot of info.

Good luck.....I would die without the efficiencies of my Treo........

Joe,

Have you performed the MR update on your phone yet?  I had the same problem but after the MR update for Verizon came out, and I installed it, it hasn't done it as much.  Unfortunately, Verizon got some isolated reports of the update causing other issues so they took it down but you can get more info here

Hey Joe,
I am so stone agey when it comes to phones.  I guess after I get some glasses so that I can see those little keyboards, I will join the smart phone generation and drag myself into the 21st Century.

I have a Treo 750 and it was shutting down by itself a couple of times due to having too many files on it.  I had to delete some, reset it and it was okay.  It never was as bad as yours.  Are  you still on warranty?  maybe you can get a replacement.  Good luck.  I'm sure it's really frustrating.
