My First YouTube Video

By
Real Estate Sales Representative with CIR Realty - Condo Specialist RW-0611515

I finally got the motivation I needed to produce my very first YouTube video.    I have wanted to do this for at least a year now, but haven't really been inclined to wrap my head around the entire process.  It's basically a VERY short bio.  There were a lot of things going around in my head as I was trying to digest the whole process and talk at the same time!

Now that I have produced my first video, I just need to work out a few of the bugs/improvements, and keep trying until I get it right.  The hard part is over and now the fun begins!

"This post is written as a submission to the ActiveRain Kodak Video Challenge contest. I have the chance to win the KODAK PLAYTOUCH Pocket Video Camera, great for REALTORS looking to create wide angle home tours and real estate marketing videos!"

Congrats Mike!  I know it's a big step...I've been thinking the same thing...need to do video.  My broker does video all the time and loves it!  Me - I hate being in front of the camera!!  Best wishes to you for a very successful 2011.

I think it's great for a first take. Does it appear a little fuzzy? Perhaps when you win the Kodak Challenge and the new video, you could start recording in HD.

Congrats- seeing and hearing yourself on video is a bit strange.  I DO find it easier if you do it while driving.

If you have a website as well, consider connecting your youtube video to your website with autoplay.  This will increase your video hit count with each visitor to your site and in effect give your video greater relevance as far as webcrawlers and youtuvbe searchers are concerned.

Hi Mike - A great first video.  Many videos I see are very unstable.  One recommendation is that you do your next video in an area without all of the background noise.

Thanks for all the feedback!

  • Loreena:  Yes, I think I have to adjust my camera settings.   It was set or too low a resolution.  I would love to win that camera.  I am using a Canon SD870 IS and while it take excellent stills, it is complicated when it comes to video.
  • Susan: In Calgary, AB - we get a ticket for that!
  • Michael: Great idea. but I don't think I want to give this one too much exposure just yet.
  • Marc:  Perhaps I should have turned my engine off???

Awe. So brave. I took my video over a month ago but haven't had guts to post it! Hopefully some of your bravery will rub off and I will post it here.....shortly.

Mike,

Good job at getting your first video done. There will be a lot more of these posts real soon of course because of the AR contest. We have been hearing about video and SEO for a while now. Funny how it takes a contest to make us do what we all know we need to do to better market ourselves.

Congrats Mike!  I have a video up on my website but was lucky enough to have our marketing person do it for me.  I am not thrilled with how I look and sound but it's always tough to see and hear oneself like that so I just bit the bullet & said put it up.  I haven't had the guts to post it here on AR though!

Good for you for getting through your first video! Interesting location...If you're in the office, you're not gonig to get any business, nice that you decided to show yourself out and about. Maybe the next video is destination based and you explain a neighborhood you love and why. You could start every video in your car! How fun! Great idea.
