Oh no, it’s the “S” word again for this weekend in Georgia!

Snow in Georgia ...again!2010 was an interesting weather year in the state of Georgia and it looks like the trend is going to continue in 2011!

We are expecting our second winter storm of the season late this weekend. After a record breaking 110 days of 90 degree plus temperatures in the summer of 2010, December in Georgia was one of the coldest on record.

And we were treated to a white Christmas for the very first time, which was a fitting finale for the holiday season.

As we face another icy blast of winter, I’ll make certain that we have plenty of hot coffee and an extra blanket or two!

It’s going to be a cold, long winter.

We are supposed to get some here in Pinehurst. Hope not as the tennis courts won't be playable.

Good morning Richard. You will probably get more than we will. For some strange reason, storms either go south or north of Nashville. Which is okay with me. Enjoy the white stuff...

I woke up to it this am and it lasted only about an hour and then STOPPED.....light and fluffy so it may be easy to clean off my car and drive on!  I'm tired of it ALREADY!

Great time to sip on hot chocolate, pick up a book and get in some quality relaxation time.  I also like to make those cold days productive by doing the little business chores that I tend to shove over for another day.  I find these are some of my favorite times with the fireplace going and just that feeling of home.  Good luck and stay warm!

Hi Richard,

I think we probably share the same bazaar fronts.  We woke up to 3 fresh inches and the neighboring, higher elevation town of Mountain City got 16 inches!  I'm canceling my showing there this morning!  Then we're breaking out the sleds.

When I think of Georgia I think of warm weather, peaches and peanuts (and the time I got pulled over for speeding... but that's another story.)  I don't think snow storms.  Does everything come to a stop?

We had a few inches out here on the Eastern End of Long Island.  I believe we're going to get more today and throughout the week.  My four year old loves it, but he's not scraping off the car in the morning, lol.

Hi Richard - The elusive "S" word for people in the south seems to utilized pretty regular this year. Does the Georgia highway department handle this word well?

Richard, I was already out taking photos, just waiting for second round of photos and snow. But the driveway needs to be plowed first....

When I lived in GA I remember wanting snow so badly, perhaps this is a delayed response from my prayers oh so long ago?

Can't wait to see your photos, I am processing mine right now. I am playing with hi def as I write this!

We're getting another snow storm right now.  And while you Georgians may think that us northerners know how to drive in the snow -- the sad story is that most people don't.  The only reason I hate driving in the snow is the other idiots out there who are clueless!

Valerie...

During most of December. our night temps were lower than Pittsburgh! Thanks for the comment.

Ginny...

We has a ski resort here in GA but closed many years ago because it was not cold enough to make snow. Now, we could make it every night! THX.

Don...

There were some stretches that we went five years in between snowfalls. Seem like we are reversing the trend. Thanks my friend.

Karen...

I saw a map that showed it snowing as far south as Montgomery! Now that is unusual! Thanks.

Richard: Love that photo. We're expecting snow tonight too... which reminds me, I'd better get busy and make a run to the grocery store. Being from the NW corner I don't I think of Georgia with cold winters, but there you go. Stay warm and keep the coffee on!

Richard ~ Just got back from the grocery store.  Husband wanted to go out before we are snowed in and I want a few folders from the office so I can work at home.  It was like a blizzered in town but not south of town.  Sun shinning at my house.  I think we are going to get it again Sunday.  I am ready, bring it on ~

Richard,

Last year we were inundated with snow. So for this year, just a couple flurries. And I'm really fine with that.
