More of My Favorite Clients - Connective Realty

By
Services for Real Estate Pros with Marte Cliff Copywriting

Once again, I've reached into my file box to find a favorite client - and today it's Jody Keating, owner / broker of Connective Realty.

Connective Realty Header

I met Jody because she posted a need for a real estate writer. I missed the post, but Len Harley saw it and suggested she contact me. Pretty cool, since Len and I had only communicated via comments on each other's blogs. I've said it before, but... Thanks, Len!

Since then I've written most of the pages on Jody's website, including her agent bios - and I've had fun with every bit of it. I've especially enjoyed our phone conversations - where we sometimes get a little off track from real estate so I feel like we're really acquainted.

Jody is the first broker I've ever met who runs her office without an office. Everyone works from home and when they have office meetings they combine business with pleasure by having a barbecue or other fun gathering.

Jody is full of ideas that get her agents and their listings noticed. For instance she bought a 57 Chevy Bel Air for tooling around town, and has an 18 foot wind dancer to grace open houses. And lately she's been busy creating a Facebook page for each of the subdivisions in their market... a huge undertaking!

The support she gives her agents is terriffic - both in terms of marketing and of being on hand to help them out or give advice when needed. If I was still an agent, and if I lived in Bryan or College Station, Texas, I'd be on the phone asking to join her. And of course, if I was a buyer or seller I'd be calling Connective Realty.

Which reminds me... Jody is looking for a couple more ambitious agents to join her team. So if you want to join the Bryan / College Station agency that is taking the market by storm, you really should get in touch with Jody.

Thanks Jon - I'd be glad to help you.

Tim - So far, it's turning out beautifully for Jody and her crew. But - she's a very hands-on broker.

Wow Thank you Marte, that is really awesome. And thanks so much for all the compliments! Although if it hadn't been for you and your great writing I would still be stuck on the 'About us' page. You wrote some great SEO for us!

My agents love the bios you wrote for them & we have had a lot of feedback from the articles you wrote for us for The Real Estate Book. And yes your right about us going off tangent sometimes on our phone calls, we do the same with emails but I think that's a testament to your personal service. You get what we are all about and that's what matters!

Jon, I would highly recommend you working with Marte. She has an amazing talent and she works hard at getting to know you, researching what you need & making sure that she provides the writing that best expresses what you want to say. I spent a very long and very wasted amount of time trying write the script for our site. I could not get into words what I wanted to say. Initially I contacted Marte about writing our 'About us' page & a couple of other static pages but I liked her writing so much and she captured what we are all about so well that I got her to write the entire site, plus bios, plus articles, plus a series of 10 recruitment letters. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Tim, We have had a lot of positive feedback from all of our advertising. There are some things that I thought were too cost prohibitive & I won't do them again but for the most part we are getting great name recognition and good leads from the advertising we do.

We do now have an office building. It's for our leasing & property management division but only our leasing agents work from there. I & the rest of my agents work from home. We get together often as a group for IO's (Inspirational Occasions). These meetings are social & include spouses & children. They are a huge hit and have produced a lot of great successes. Essentially we just get together as a large group & I bring a list of topics. We brainstorm, throw around marketing & real estate related ideas & we even celebrate birthdays. What I have found is that all of my agents and their families get very involved in the whole process. It energizes us all, gives spouses & families an opportunity to participate & understand, and it creates an atmosphere of team work. After all being a Realtor requires a lot of motivation and understanding from families, so it's very important to include them too. I also try to have one on one meetings with each of them, normally for lunch and it gives them an opportunity to be more direct and personal. Apart from that I communicate with all of them daily either by phone, text, email, facebook or twitter. Overall we have great teamwork and everyone has a sense of ownership in the company and true concern about how it's projected and how successful it can be.

Jody, thank you for your kind words.

And I think other brokers who are considering going "office-less" will thank you too. You just gave away some of the secrets to your success!

You are so right about families needing to be involved - because real estate so often gets in the way of plans made with family. I think success comes much easier when an agent has family support rather than family disapproval.
