While searching years ago on where to see an independent movie, the answers were and still are the same. Landmark Theaters!

Landmark's Renaissance Place in downtown Highland Park is my first choice and it looks like the only one. The theater is located at 1850 Second Street. There is 3 hours free parking in the underground garage. If you come early you can have a quick slice of NY pizza across the street as an idea. I did drive to Landmark on Clark Street to see A Single Man by Tom Ford, since it was a limited release.

I visited many of the theaters around Chicago's North Shore and Northwest suburbs. The closest one to me at The Glen. Northbrook Court, Skokie Old Orchard and others. They would have time to time something independent, but they would come much later if they are not a big hit first week.

Not to make this blog post too short, but here are a few of my favorites.

Many times we talk about movies and I still can't believe that many don't know about the best movie website Rotten Tomatoes. Here you can find everything you need to know about the movie. I tend to watch movies in theaters that are rated higher than 50%. The rating is the special thing about this site. They combine all the ratings and give you a percentage combined from critiques from all around.

Flixter Mobile is also great for movie lovers. Flixter has more than 20 Million App Downloads. The only think I miss on this app is a Tweet option. Since they are combined with Rotten Tomatoes it would be great to have Tweet buttons to share our favorite movie with a simple touch.

We spend so much on our cable so I rarely rent a movie from a cable company. $5 is not worth it, since the Red Boxes are popping up like mushrooms.  It's so easy to reserve from home and pick it up from the closest location.

Netflix online option is awesome. I did cancel at the first because I could not wait for the DVD's to be mailed. I ordered an independent movie and I had to wait so long to receive a non wroking disk. I'm back as their costumer. Hooking up the Wii console and having so many options for $8 was a steal.

This is my two virtual cents about movie choices :)

Haris, we love Landmark theaters. The other ones we love is Arclight. Do you have those in your area? I love the fact that you can get a drink before or after the movie either to decompress from the commute or discuss the movie. Also having the ability to pick your seats in advance is a great feature.

We have something similar in downtown Chicago and I'm yet to visit one not far from O'Hare airport. For a few extra $ you can have a large seat .... We had a drink after a movie as you mentioned .... it's fun having a drink with friends right there after a great movie. You gave me an idea for th next blog post :)
